Just got home from work and saw this car.. I have been dieing to do a 2.4 turbo build but haven't even started. this could end all my procrastination. I have no idea if it still runs, but I'm calling to guy in the morning.. what kind of price should I shoot him if the body is good? I actully just want the engine, trans, and engine management. is that a good controller or does anyone know? what price should i shoot for the engine, trans, and management if he wan'ts 1500 for the car?

nothing wrong with the engine or anything? Almost sounds too good to be true... I would pick it up if you can get more info about that engine.

the guy had went away for the army and it has been setting for 3 years. I am going monday to look at it. the body looks kinda like a turd, but it would fit nicely in my 97 2dr. and my engine out of it would fit nicely in my 98 flame red r/t.  seems like a stand up guy so far. he said 1500 bottom dollar. I can't build a 2.4 turbo for that. needs a intercooler and fuel pump, he has sold both

Question:  Does the engine run ??

If it doesn't run, is it because of the fuel system, or the engine itself ??

This may not be a bad deal, *IF* you have the fundage to re-do the engine, if something goes wrong..... because if something goes wrong, it wouldn't be a 'good deal' anymore.
If the engine starts and runs fine, and you can check oil pressure (easy to do, if he will let you), then it's probably worth it.

they sold the fuel pump and Intercooler. so it won't run. Im going to take a compression gauge and a battery and crank it over and check compression. oil pressure should come up a little while cranking it with no plugs in it. wouldn't it come up a few pounds if the bearings are good? Im going to tear it apart before I run it and check bearings and rings. Im going to transplant in engine and trans in my 97 2dr. tired of runnin mid to high 15's. lol. If it is the real deal, then I couldn't even build a 2.4 turbo for what they want for the whole car.

Good question..... I don't know.

The oil pressure gauge / tester that I have, doesn't even START reading, until you get to 5PSI, so anything less than that, won't even 'register'.
HOWEVER, if there is pressure, I can see the oil actually physically moving up the semi-opaque (translucent) tube connecting the pressure gauge to the fitting on the block.

When the engine died in my '98 Neon (well, actually, it RAN, it just had *Zero* Oil Pressure), I didn't see any oil moving into the tube.
There was zero pressure on the gauge, too...... but stoooopid me refused to believe it, I thought that the gauge was broken.  Embarrassed  ( Actually, the engine was broken.)

I was thinking without plugs it would turn easier and as fast as the starter will turn it. thought it might come up a couple pounds.that 2100 clutch, isn't that ACT? And why would they use a 2nd gen trans?

I haven't heard of the "2100" clutch, but I can tell you that the 2nd gen MTX trans is stronger than the 1st gen MTX, due to some 're-engineering' by Chrysler.

Congrats on the "pending" aquisition, and keep us posted.

she's mine all mine. haven't gotten to look at really close in the daylight, but we washed her off at the car wash on the way home and it actully looks decent. needs a drivers fender, a little body work on the hood, and drivers door glass. thata about it bodywise.looked like 3in downpipe and exhaust, maybe a ported on TB, underdrive pulley, crank trigger and all looked good. might need some re-wiring, no biggy. next weekend I get to really take a better look at everything
